Genesis 1:26
26 And God said, let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creepers creeping on the earth.

How Were We Made in the Image of God?
It is certainly true that Genesis 1:26 teaches that we have been made in the image of God, after His likeness. But I really, really doubt if God was referring to body parts housing a spirit, because there is no body that contained Him.

How have we been made in the image of God then?
  • our attribute of an eternal soul
  • our attribute of creativity
  • our attribute of ministry (to the animals in the garden)
  • our attribute of dominion (over the animals)
  • our attribute of provision (for the trees of the garden)
  • our attribute of Fatherhood (towards our children)
  • our attribute of caring (for our children)
...and many more I suppose. These are some of the spiritual understandings about how we were made in the image of God.

It is we who are limited to the flesh and a body, not Him. He is greater than the universe that He created, so that God could not have possibly been referring to the other things commonly mentioned by Trinitarians upon reading Genesis 1:26 that point to a "Trinity".
